Not really, but it will help you keep your ribbon supply neat and organized.
I used to keep all my ribbons floating around free in a little plastic box. Sure big spools of ribbon were fine - but what do you do with all the little scraps that tend to gravitate together and form a giant knotted mess? Well, here's my way:
Corks make perfect little spools for small scraps of leftover ribbon. I pin the ends in place or tuck them in the folds of the ribbon. It's an easy way to store ribbon quickly and use up the giant supply of wine corks in your desk. What, you don't have one of those? Weird, must just be an alcoholic thing.
I also came across this method on Mamie Jane's blog, using vintage wooden rulers:
Pretty cute, and as an added bonus you can measure out how much ribbon you're using when you need it. There are also several crafty ideas floating around on Pinterest, of course. Really, you can store it so many ways, so if your collection is a knotted disaster right now, don't fret! All it takes is five minutes and some leftover corks.
