Christmas in a Jar

This year I want to do something really different in terms of Christmas decorating. Like just about everyone right now, I have a total obsession for mason jars, especially Christmas-themed ones like my newest project:

I want to get a whole bunch of mason jars in various sizes and add a little bit of Christmas to each one, and group them together as a table centerpiece. This would also be a good project for kids, to each make their own jar and add it to the table.
I, however, am greedy and wanted all the pretty ribbon for myself. I used May Art's Solid Stripes Ribbon for my Christmas tree and their Reindeer Satin Cutouts Ribbon to fly around it.

I wanted it to look like the reindeer were flying on a gust of wind, so I glued them to transparent tracing paper I cut into a swirl shape and taped to the inside lid of the jar. Also note you need to separate the reindeer from each other to keep the perfect circular shape of the swirl.

A little sign and cotton ball "snow" were the last details to complete it, though if I had silver glitter I would definitely have added a sprinkle to give the snow a little sparkle. Oh well, you can never find anything when you need it..
Hope you're inspired to make your own Christmases in Jars! If you need some ribbon to get you started, check out the other lovely tree-inspired projects over on the May Arts Blog and leave a comment for a chance to win a few free spools!
